    It seems incredible that in in this cheerful and nice part of Madrid, it took place hundreds of terrible executions. There were transferred prisoners , by foot or wagon , from the Palacio de Santa Cruz (then Jail Court ) to their final destination at the stake , the gallows , the guillotine or garrote . The gallows stood in front of the Portal Cloths, were beheaded or beheaded stood in front of the House of Carnage and the garrote the facade of the Casa de la Panadería was chosen.
